A: So you wanted to recap some of the changes that happened in Google land this year.
J: Hi Andrew, yes there have been some pretty major shifts in Google technology this year and I wanted to stress to your listeners the need to understand 3 of them.
The first is Performance Max campaigns – now these came out with much fanfare in the middle of the year and almost every digital person was talking about them. Turns out they are a bit of a mixed bag – yes in some cases they work – in others, Google is stuffing your ads into poor performing inventory – I think business owners should review these campaigns.
Next up is GA4 – this is a massive change and from the 1st of July 2023 your current Google Analytics will stop tracking – this will affect your ad placement and machine learning, as well as general knowledge around your website engagement – if you haven’t sorted this yet – get it done!
The final piece is very techy and is more for corporates and big retailers and it is called server side tagging – with cookies being killed off and apple not allowing tracking, data loss is real and costly. We have a solution that is world leading, so get in touch now.
